Sally Kern's Harsh Words
Seriously, what is SO threatening about homosexuality? Part of me wonders if this woman lived during the censored times of the early 20th century and then was cryogenically frozen. Now she is spouting out this unsupported bull**** like an idiot...
When did a sexuality apparently threaten our government, community, and morals?
Thoughts?
Who elected this woman?

When someone sent me this video the other day, I was told it was some of the most offensive stuff I'd hear without using any profanities. Maybe I've just been desensitized to the red state state of mind, but I wasn't terribly shocked. She was parroting the bigotry of the region. Might have even been one of her major selling points in her campaign.
Probably the worst part of that clip is her painfully ironic commentary on indoctrination of children. I just hope she doesn't have any gay children.
One of my biggest problems with people like Sally Kern is when they refer to "the gay agenda", and claim that homosexuals try to systematically indoctrinate children or convert them to their lifestyle. This angers me because there is absolutely no evidence to suggest that homosexual people, as a group, have ever had an "agenda". Speeches like that ARE the evidence of an anti-gay agenda, it IS indoctrination, and it is part of a visible effort to systematically oppress gays.
I feel like this mythology of the evil, cunning homosexual is a characterization not unlike that of Japanese Americans during World War II. It brings to mind sketches of Japanese people with slanting evil eyes, wringing their hands while they plot against America and freedom. Just ridiculous hateful propaganda.
It doesn't surprise me that some people feel that way. But it does surprise me that in this day and age, someone in Kern's position as a state legislator tries to use her office and her influence on the law to formally institutionalize her beliefs, and claim that it is all in the name of patriotism. It is implicitly anti-american to persecute an individual or group because of their lifestyle or beliefs. Sally Kern is free to think the way she does about homosexuals, however unsubstantiated, but her efforts in office in opposition to gay rights are the worst kind of treason and hypocrisy.
It would be convenient certainly if there were no evidence of a gay agenda, but the same people who think Colbert is an ardent republican also think that this is a leaked document outlining our plans for global domination.
